Position Overview

The Clerk of Works will play a critical role in ensuring that construction projects are executed to the highest standards. This position involves on-site supervision, quality control, contractor monitoring, and technical oversight across various community development initiatives throughout Guyana.

Key Responsibilities

On-Site Supervision

  • Provide daily on-site supervision of construction projects
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
  • Oversee work progress and ensure projects stay on schedule
  • Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Ensure construction work meets quality standards and specifications
  • Inspect materials, workmanship, and construction methods
  • Conduct regular site inspections and assessments
  • Identify and address quality issues promptly
  • Verify that all work complies with approved designs and drawings

Technical Oversight

  • Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams
  • Ensure adherence to construction best practices and safety standards
  • Monitor the use of appropriate construction methods and materials

Contractor Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance with contract requirements
  • Track and document contractor activities and progress
  • Ensure contractors meet their obligations and deliverables
  • Address non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain professional relationships with contractors and consultants

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of site activities and inspections
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
  • Document any deviations, defects, or non-conformances
  • Photograph and record construction progress
  • Report findings and recommendations to management

Requirements

Education

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Technology, or a related field from a recognized tertiary institution

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in:
    • Construction supervision
    • Site inspection
    • Related engineering works

Technical Knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality control standards
  • Experience in monitoring contractor performance and compliance
  • Understanding of construction drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations
