The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of Finance Officer. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an important national institution while advancing your finance career.

Position Overview
The Finance Officer will manage the financial operations of the Ethnic Relations Commission, ensuring effective accounting systems, budget management, and compliance with government financial regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Establish and maintain an effective Accounting System
- Prepare the Commission’s Annual Budget
- Manage Payroll for staff and Commissioners
- Prepare fortnightly Financial Statements for presentation to the Commission
- Approve payment vouchers
Compliance & Reporting
- Submit all information for Capital expenditure to Ministry of Finance Management Information System Unit
- Ensure that there is an annual financial audit of the Department
- Maintain compliance with government financial regulations
- Liaise between the ERC and Ministry of Finance
Team Leadership
- Supervise the Accounting staff
- Provide guidance and support to finance team members
- Ensure efficient operations of the accounting department
Requirements
Education & Certification
- ACCA accreditation OR
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
Experience
- At least three (3) years of Supervisory experience in an Accounts Department
- Experience with Government accounting is absolutely necessary
- Experience using accounting software
Work Style
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Ability to work without constant supervision
- Self-motivated and proactive
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of government financial management systems
Essential Requirements
Mobility & Flexibility:
- Must have the ability to travel within the 10 Administrative Regions
- Flexibility to work on weekends and outside of typical work hours
