Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team. This is an important role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation within one of Guyana’s premier healthcare facilities.

Position Overview
As Assistant Coordinator of Sanitation and Janitorial Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Georgetown Public Hospital maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position requires strong supervisory skills and a commitment to healthcare facility standards.
Key Responsibilities
Sanitation & Janitorial Management
- Assist in coordinating and overseeing daily sanitation and janitorial operations
- Ensure all areas of the hospital meet cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Monitor and supervise sanitation staff throughout their duties
- Implement and maintain cleaning schedules and protocols
- Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies
Supervisory Duties
- Assist in supervising sanitation and janitorial staff
- Conduct on-the-job training for team members
- Assign tasks and monitor performance
- Address staff concerns and support team development
- Report any issues or incidents to the senior coordinator
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Follow infection control and biosafety protocols
- Monitor adherence to occupational safety and health standards
- Conduct routine inspections of sanitation activities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
Operational Support
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
- Coordinate with other hospital departments on sanitation needs
- Support emergency cleaning and response situations
- Recommend improvements to sanitation processes and procedures
Requirements
Education
- Five (5) CXC subjects including English Language at Grades I, II, or III
Experience
- At least two (2) years of experience in sanitation or environmental services
- At least six (6) months of experience as an assistant supervisor or in a supervisory role
Additional Qualifications (Asset)
- A certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or Environmental Studies from a recognized institution would be an asset

- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene standards
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations
