Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our dietary team. This is an important role in ensuring that patients and staff receive nutritious, safe, and well-prepared meals within one of Guyana’s leading healthcare facilities.

Position Overview
As a Dietary Assistant, you will support the dietary department in the preparation, handling, and distribution of meals and food items across the hospital. This role requires a commitment to food safety, hygiene, and quality in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Assist with the preparation of meals and food items for patients and staff
- Follow recipes and dietary guidelines accurately
- Help with the serving and distribution of meals to patients
- Ensure meals are prepared to the highest standards of quality
Food Safety & Hygiene
- Maintain strict hygiene and sanitation standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas
- Follow food safety protocols and procedures at all times
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food items
- Monitor food temperatures and expiration dates
- Support compliance with health and safety regulations
Dietary Support
- Assist in preparing meals according to specific dietary requirements and patient needs
- Work closely with dieticians and nutritionists on meal planning
- Ensure patients receive the correct meals based on their medical dietary plans
- Support special dietary preparations when required
Kitchen Operations
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the hospital kitchen
- Help with cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and areas
- Support inventory management and restocking of food supplies
- Work as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Requirements
Education
- Completion of secondary education
Certification
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate (required)
Skills & Competencies
- Interest in food preparation and service
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Reliable and punctual
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to learn and develop skills
- Physical fitness to handle kitchen tasks
- Honest and hardworking
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or catering would be an asset
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred
