Position Overview
The Personnel Officer I works closely with senior personnel staff to manage employee records, process personnel matters, and contribute to staff development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine and assess all personnel matters and prepare submissions to ensure relevant approvals are obtained
- Assist the Senior Personnel Officer with the maintenance of all personnel records
- Supervise supporting staff who assist with processing of all personnel matters for employees to ensure work meets required standards
- Assist the Senior Personnel Officer in carrying out training needs analysis and develop effective programmes to determine staff development needs
- Perform any other related duties for the smooth functioning of the department
Qualifications
Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
Option 1:
- Certificate in Industrial Relations or Personnel Management
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in the Public Service
Option 2:
- Four (4) subjects including English Language at C.X.C. (General Grades I to III/Basic Grade I)
- At least three (3) years experience in the Public Service
Essential Skills
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Supervisory and team management capabilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Knowledge of public service procedures preferred
