The Truth about Finding a Job in Guyana in 2026

In Guyana Finding a job may not be as easy as you think. For many Job Seekers they would search for days and still no chances of finding a job. While Others may Find Jobs in a Short Space of Time. In this blog post I will dive deep into the truth about finding jobs in Guyana. I will Also cover why job seekers Find it Hard to Secure Jobs and What You can do as a Job Seeker to Ensure you Stay on Top of your Job Search Game.

Before you begin your Job Search Journey you need to ensure you have a Well Prepared CV + Cover Letter Template Prepared in Advanced. This allows you to Apply for Jobs Easily when Needed by making Simple Changes to the Job Title you are Applying For.

I created the Guyana Jobs Telegram in 2025 with Hopes to Help Guyanese Find Jobs and What I notice is Many Job Seekers are never readily Prepared to secure a Job. Alot of Guyanese do not have their CV Updated and ready to be submitted to new Jobs. I run Weekly Polls to Check the rate in which Members in my telegram are Progressing in Being Employed or Call for an Interview and weeks after Weeks the numbers remain the same. Below is a Poll I created in 2025 around October When my Channel had 1000+ Members. You can see 400+ Persons saw the Poll. 108 Persons Choose to Vote and in the end 82% Were Still Searching For Jobs Despite Hundreds of Job Flyers Posted and Shared in My Job Search Telegram.

Why do Job Seekers Find it Hard to Find Jobs ?

Below I will Share some of the Reasons I found :

1. Skills Mismatch
Many available jobs require specific technical or skilled experience that many applicants don’t have, especially in growing sectors like oil, gas, and construction.

2. Small Labour Pool & Brain Drain
Guyana has a relatively small population, and many educated people leave the country for work abroad. This reduces the number of local candidates who can fill advertised roles.

3. Job Preferences
Some job seekers only apply for “dream jobs” or office roles, ignoring other opportunities that are available now.

4. Experience & Readiness
Many applicants lack work experience or struggle in interviews, making it hard to get hired even when they apply.

5. Informal Employment
A large portion of work in Guyana is informal, such as small businesses or self-employment, which doesn’t always appear in formal job postings.

6. Lack of Willingness to Work
Another factor is that some job seekers in Guyana are simply not willing to apply for jobs or take available opportunities. Reasons vary some may wait for higher-paying positions, while others may prefer informal work, rely on family support, or avoid certain industries. This attitude reduces the pool of active applicants, even though jobs are available.

7. Poor Employer Follow-Up
Some companies in Guyana post job openings regularly but fail to respond to applicants who submit their resumes. Job seekers may apply multiple times and never hear back, which discourages them from continuing to apply. Despite this, companies keep posting new positions daily, creating a frustrating cycle where jobs exist, but communication and hiring processes are weak.

As you can see I listed Seven Points But I can extend this List to Several Other Points Based on Observations and Feedbacks but I will Leave it as it is. A solution to these Problems rely heavy on Team Work, Outreaches and Opportunities to Grow.

Solutions to Helping Guyanese Job Seekers Secure Jobs

Some times Job Seekers Just need Guidance, Someone they can reach out to and get Help. Most of the Times When Job Seekers Begin Applying for Jobs they Have an Adrenaline Rush that they will be selected for their Interview, But some times that excitement fade when they recieve no Follow Ups, No Calls, It Leads to them Being Frustrated.

Another Point I Want to Suggest is the Hiring Process in Guyana. In Guyana there are several Job Website Available to Find Jobs and Below I will List a Few. But while these Sites Exist some times you find little response From Employers when Applications are Submitted. This means More Employers Should Dedicate Teams to Monitor Emails and Job Boards where Jobs are Posted to Ensure Each Applicants are Seen and Responded To.

I would be Sure that if every Job Seeker recieves an email/ Call informing them that they were not successful for a job interview it would ease their mind as to why and it should motivate them to try again and maybe improve on the last application they would have sent out. But after sending Hundreds of Application with No Response It puts them in a Mindset Where they Choose not to Apply for Other Jobs.

I believe there is a Urgent Need for more On the Job Training Opportunities for Job Seekers in Guyana. This would eliminate hundreds of Applications that are rejected on the basis that Applicants Lack Work Experience. From a Business Standpoint On the job Training can be very Beneficial and a Risk taken by Companies because some times it’s extra funding to train New Hires and Some times if they are not successful Resources are Wasted. That is where maybe the Government Can intervene to Assist Companies Who are Willing to Train New Hires. That Way the Burden Will not be on the Company to Facilitate Training on their Own.

What can be done to Help Guyanese Find Jobs and Improve the hiring Process ?

As of 2026 the Government of Guyana has Launched Several Platforms to Ensure Guyanese are accessing Opportunities in Real Time. For Starters the National Job Bank . This Website is Very Good Resource to Find Jobs. Updates are Made Weekly and Jobs are Posted in Categories and by Region. And While this Website is Up and running I did observe that not every Job in Guyana that exist is Posted There. Mainly Registered Business/ Companies. I also notice that a lot of Small Business Owners Rely on Facebook Job Groups to Share their jobs which means those Jobs are never surfaced on the National Job Bank.

The Government also Launched the Skills Connect App. I have personally tried this app my Self and I will admit it is not as active as it is intended to be. I Signed up when it was launched and To date Jobs are Posted there maybe once a Week. So this app definitely needs More Marketing and Participation. It is my believe that the Skills Connect App and the National Job Bank is the Same Thing. Only difference is the Skills Connect App Allows persons to Install an app rather than visiting a Web Browser. Knowing Guyanese the Only App Most tune in to is Facebook and Tiktok. All other Apps may be Opened Once Per Week (Except the Telegram App which I Share Jobs Consistently)

The Government also Launched the GOAL Program which allows Guyanese to Take Courses online to add to their Qualifications. I think the GOAL Program is really Helpful but despite these additional Opportunities A lot of Guyanese Still Find them Self out of Jobs and searching with their Educational Achievements.

So think about it The Government is trying to put systems in place, A website for job Seekers, An app as well as Programs to Help Guyanese take their educational achievements to Higher Heights. But Still the numbers Show that Guyanese are Still Searching for Jobs Daily.

The truth is the Process is not as Easy as some would think. It is a Daily Challenge for Many to Finally get the Call for that Interview they so Desire. Below I will Share some Tips Guyanese Should take to Ensure they Secure Jobs much Faster.

How to Secure Jobs in Guyana Faster for Guyanese ?

To begin I would Encourage Every Guyanese to Join LinkedIn. When I was Job Hunting I relied mainly on a Local Job Site Called Skilled Guyanese and unto a Day like Today that Website is Still Functioning Well. Jobs are Posted there Consistently. But LinkedIn is Great because it Allows you to Connect with Recruiters , Follow Company Profiles and Network with Professionals in your Interest. LinkedIn also have the Easy Apply Jobs. These Jobs are Posted Daily and You can apply Directly on LinkedIn by submitting your CV.

I also Created a Linkedin Jobs Community for Job Seekers to Network and share Roles they are Looking to Apply For. With LinkedIn Easy Apply Jobs and Being active in the Jobs Community you can increase your Chances of Finding a Job.

The next Advice I would encourage Guyanese to do is check out active Job Board Sites. Just to List Some of the Most Active ones :

guyanajobs.net – My own Guyana job posting site.

SkilledGuyanese.com – One of the largest local job boards with daily listings.

Jobs.gov.gy – The official government job portal by the Ministry of Labour.

Careers.gy – A platform for searching Guyana jobs and vacancies.

Jobs in Guyana (jobsinguyana.com) – Job board with thousands of local openings.

Jobomas (gy.jobomas.com) – International job site listing opportunities in Guyana.

JobsGT (myjobsgt.com) – Online recruitment platform dedicated to Guyana jobs.

FindGuyanaJobs.com – Job search site with categories and listings.

JobplacementsGuyana.com – Platform connecting job seekers and employers.

GuyanaJobLink.com – Local job posting and alert platform.

These sites are very Good to Find Daily Job Listings. I also notice a lot of Guyanese may not have the Time to Visit all Job Sites listed in this Blog Post Daily. That is why i created the Guyana Jobs Telegram. To ease the Burden of Checking Multiple Sites. The Telegram is Updated Daily and Jobs are Posted From Multiple Sources. Alot of Guyanese Choose to be in the Telegram because it is Less Crowded with unnecessary Job Listing , Updates are done Daily and Silent Updates are Available. Feel free to Join the Growing Telegram Community.

Besides these job Sites. There are Hundreds of Job Facebook Groups and Page. I would Suggest Checking them Out Daily. The Local News Paper and Some times Listening to the Radio.

In conclusion I want to Add that The Truth about Finding Jobs in Guyana in 2026 is not easy at times but with Consistency of applying , With more measures being put in place to help job seekers without experience get on the job training and Creation for more support groups for job seekers who are Frustrated about the Hiring process Would see a reduction in the unemployment Rate.
