Position Overview
As an Internal Audit Assistant, you will support the internal audit function of Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, helping to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and sound operational practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Operations
- Assist in planning and executing internal audit activities
- Support the review of financial records and transactions
- Help identify potential risks and areas for improvement
- Assist in preparing audit reports and documentation
- Follow up on audit findings and recommendations
Financial Review & Compliance
- Review financial records and accounting systems for accuracy
- Verify compliance with internal policies and procedures
- Assist in assessing adherence to financial regulations and standards
- Support the monitoring of internal controls
- Help ensure proper documentation and record-keeping
Data & Reporting
- Collect and organize financial and operational data
- Assist in preparing reports for management review
- Document audit findings and observations accurately
- Support the preparation of recommendations for improvement
- Maintain organized audit files and records
Team Support
- Work closely with the senior audit team
- Assist with day-to-day audit tasks and activities
- Participate in meetings and discussions on audit matters
- Contribute to continuous improvement of audit processes
Requirements
Education
- Five (5) CXC subjects at General Proficiency including:
- Mathematics — Grades I or II
- Accounts — Grades I or II
- English Language — Grades I to III
Skills & Competencies
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Basic computer literacy, particularly MS Excel
- Willingness to learn and develop audit skills
- Organized and self-motivated
- Honest and ethical in all matters
- Ability to work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Any additional certifications or coursework in accounting or auditing would be an asset
- Previous experience in auditing or accounting preferred but not required
