Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Vehicle Driver. This is an important role that supports the daily operations of one of Guyana’s leading healthcare facilities.
Position Overview
As a Vehicle Driver at Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, you will be responsible for the safe transportation of staff, patients, supplies, and materials to and from the hospital and other locations. This role requires reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Services
- Safely transport patients, staff, and authorized personnel
- Deliver supplies and materials to and from the hospital
- Follow assigned routes and schedules efficiently
- Respond to transportation requests promptly
- Ensure passengers and cargo arrive safely and on time
Vehicle Maintenance & Care
- Maintain assigned vehicle in clean and good working condition
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips
- Report any mechanical issues or repairs needed
- Ensure the vehicle is always ready for use
- Keep all vehicle documentation up to date
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations at all times
- Follow hospital transportation policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean driving record
- Prioritize road safety in all duties
- Handle emergency transportation when required
Documentation & Communication
- Complete trip logs and delivery records accurately
- Communicate with relevant departments on transport schedules
- Report any incidents or issues promptly
- Maintain good communication with hospital staff
Requirements
Education
- Sound secondary education
Licensing
- Valid driver’s license for all classes of vehicles (required)
- Must have held the license for at least three (3) years
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent driving skills and experience
- Clean driving record
- Reliable and punctual
- Professional and courteous demeanor
- Good knowledge of local roads and routes
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Strong communication skills
- Patient and calm under pressure
- Trustworthy and responsible
Preferred Experience
- Previous driving experience in a professional or institutional setting would be an asset
- Experience transporting patients or working in a healthcare environment preferred
